200 saxophones launch festival

This year’s Norfolk and Norwich Festival launched with a free performance involving 200 saxophonists outside the Forum.

The Festival’s first performance, Andy Sheppard’s Saxophone Massive, included saxophonists of all abilities, aged 8 to 80.

The Festival spans 16 days with musicians, dancers and circus acts performing in venues such as Chapelfield Gardens over the coming weekend.

Huge mechanical puppets will perform a reworking of The Pied Piper of Hamelin along Gentleman’s Walk, which again is free and open to all.

The Festival Finale will be staged in Eaton Park. For full details of all the performances check the NNF11 website.
