Cringleford CE VA Primary is pushing ahead with plans to relocate to a new school at Round House Park. As part of the negotiations, the developers hope to secure a deal to build 1,000 homes.
Once completed, Round House Park, just off the A11, will currently bring 750 new homes to Cringleford. As the site grows, questions are being raised about where new families will send their children this September. According to a report to councillors, the existing school on Cantley Lane in Cringleford is already struggling to accommodate children from the new development in some year groups, at a time when only around a quarter of the homes have been built.
A site for the new school has been allocated within the estate, next to 11 acres set aside for park land. The school will be part funded by the developers and will be twice as big, providing space for 420 children. In a statement, the developers, Bovis and Kier Partnership Homes, said: “The consortium is providing land for the new school and is currently negotiating and finalising with Norfolk County Council and South Norfolk District Council, a Section 106 agreement, through which land and financial contributions will be agreed to provide funding for a new school.”
Under the negotiations, the developers want to increase the size of Round House Park to 1,000 homes. They state: “The consortium currently has outline planning permission to build 750 homes at Round House Park, but through a revised application have secured a resolution to grant consent for an increased figure of 1,000 homes, subject to a revised Section 106 agreement.”

The school governors hope locating the school within the new estate will unify the old and new parts of Cringleford, as well as providing a building that’s fit for purpose. A final decision on the proposal they’ve put forward will be taken by the county council’s cabinet this Spring.
