Punch Taverns are refurbishing the Black Horse on Earlham Road. While the work’s carried out the pub is open for business as usual.

The present landlords, James Wright and James Sanders, used to be managers at Dunston Hall before taking on The Black Horse during last year’s recession.

Now 12 months on, the brewery Punch Taverns are investing in the 500 year old building. The carpets will be replaced and  the upstairs Bed and Breakfast rooms will be refurbished. The Black Horse sign, currently red, will change to a subtle green.

James Wright said they’re gearing up for the Christmas period: “We’re currently looking towards Christmas, but we also offer a free buffet for any party: you bring the party, we’ll give you the buffet, any night of the week.” The work is due to be completed by the end of October.
