City Hall goes solar
Solar panels are to be installed on the roof of City Hall.
This follows lobbying from Green Party councillors, who argued the large, flat roof was ideal.
The Labour-led cabinet yesterday approved plans to install solar panels costing £235,000 to the roof of City Hall. The government offers a feed-in tariff, which will allow the council to get an income from selling the energy back to the grid, as well as saving money on its own fuel bills.
Officers outlined that the biggest risk with the project was that the size of the subsidies provided by the Feed In Tariff might reduce over time.
