With more snow forecast, Norfolk Police are warning motorists not to film road crashes. Drivers were spotted filming crashes during this morning’s snow on their mobile phones. Harry Mitchell, Head of News, said: “Filming road traffic incidents is extremely dangerous for both drivers and our officers and staff who are attending people in need.”

Some rubbish collections may be disrupted due to icy conditions. While major routes in Norwich are currently clear, smaller side streets remain icy and unsafe for collection vehicles to drive down. The advice is to still put your bin out if you have a scheduled collection.

Older people are particularly prone to falls in this weather. The advice from NHS Norfolk’s Jonathan Williams, Assistant Director of Public Health: “Being prepared means having a stock of non-perishable and tinned goods that you can use during icy conditions when you can’t go out. You should also keep a supply of salt or sand by your front door which can be spread on your path to clear it of ice.” He adds: “Wrap up well when you go out in the cold. Wear lots of thin layers – clothes made from cotton, wool and fleecy fibres are particularly good.”
