First in the queue: Phil Deadman, Antonia Tony-Fadipe and Nadine Davies.

Proudly holding his 0001 ticket, Phil Deadman started queuing at lunchtime on Thursday. The first night was spent outside, but last night fans were invited into the warm of the Students’ Union. Over 600 hopefuls waiting in line, with each person only allowed to buy two tickets each. For Phil: “It was fantastic. I can’t wait to get home to show my girlfriend who’s a big Coldplay fan.”

Antonia Tony-Fadipe, a second year accountancy and finance student added: “On Thursday night I brought my duvet and lots of layers, but it was nice. We all bonded.” The first 200 in the queue got free hot pizzas, paid for by the band. Nadine Davies, who has been a Coldplay fan since she was 12 said: “I really hope I get an autograph. That would be the icing on the cake.”

Having sold over 50 million records worldwide, the band are one of the world’s best-selling music artists. The show will play at the University of East Anglia just days after they release their fifth studio album, titled Mylo Xyloto, on October 24th 2011.
