Day time parking at Eaton Park will be restricted during university term time, if councillors approve the plans this week. Car parking could be restricted to two and a half hours between 9-3 on weekdays at Eaton Park, to deter students and staff at the University from parking there all day. The restrictions would only operate between September and May and would not be enforced at weekends or during the summer.
The changes follow a public consultation, after concerns were raised about cars being parked at Eaton Park for long periods during the day. No charges will be introduced but the council is exploring automatic numberplate enforcement in both Earlham and Eaton Parks. The aim is to keep the car parks free for use by legitimate park users.
Councillors will consider the planned changes for Eaton Park this Wednesday.
