Assault on Unthank Road

Police are appealing for witnesses to an assault on Unthank Road around 2am on Friday 7 May. A 38 year old man was walking along Unthank Road, opposite the Colman hospital, when a vehicle pulled up beside him to ask him for directions. As the victim went to speak to the passenger, a man got out of the back of the vehicle and assaulted him. He was left with facial injuries. Officers would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident.

Burglars target local school

Twenty laptops have been stolen from a local school. A mobile classroom at Town Close Preparatory School on Ipswich Road was forced open and the laptops taken sometime over last weekend. Police would like to hear from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious or anyone who may be offered these type of Acer Travelmate laptops for sale. Earlier this year laptops were stolen from reception classrooms at Recreation Road Infants School.

Drugs den shut down

Police have pledged use powers to close down drug dens, following  the successful raid on a property near Bignold Primary. The owner has been served with an eviction order.

Superintendent Nick Dean said: “This robust approach to what had become a significant problem for residents and the public living in this area … has meant that we can begin to restore normality… I hope this serves as a warning to others who choose to deal drugs in the city.
