Some of the world’s top cyclists will race through Norwich this September, as the Tour of Britain comes to Norfolk. It’ll be the biggest sporting event ever held in the county.
Stage six of the eight day event will start in King’s Lynn, head across north Norfolk before snaking through Norwich and ending in Great Yarmouth – a total of 117 miles.
Spectators will be able to watch the cyclists sprint up Grapes Hill, before riding past City Hall, down Prince of Wales Road onto Riverside and then heading out towards Great Yarmouth.
Derrick Murphy, Norfolk County Council Deputy Leader said: “The potential benefits of hosting a stage of the Tour of Britain are huge – with our tourism industry and those in related trades particularly set to gain enormously from the regional, national and international attention that the Tour brings.” “More than anything though, this event is about getting local residents, businesses, our schools – everyone in Norfolk, lining the route on Thursday September 16 and really making the event a day to remember.”
