Traditional donkey rides will be offered for the first time at a local park this weekend. This year’s May Day event in Heigham Park sees donkey rides added to the list of attractions which includes jugglers, music, stalls and bouncy castles.
The event’s been organised every May Bank holiday for the past 30 years and has grown in popularity every year. In the early days it attracted far fewer people but last year even strong winds and hail failed to dampen spirits, with hundreds attending the event. Organiser Margaret Culley said: “It’s not about raising money. It’s organised as an event for the community and getting people together.”
Organisers are hoping the weather will stay dry for this Monday’s event which runs in Heigham Park on Recreation Road from 11-4pm.
