Police have carried out a drugs raid on an internet cafe off Dereham Road, following concerns raised by local people.

Officers from the Norwich Tactical Unit and West Centre Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) raided the address in Distillery Square at about 4pm on Friday.

Officers seized a quantity of Class A and B drugs as well as cash. Eight men aged between 16 and 50 were arrested in connection with drug offences and seven have been released on bail until mid October while police continue with their enquiries.

A 31-year-old man has been charged with possession of cannabis and will appear at Norwich Magistrates Court on Monday 19th September.

Inspector Lynne Cross, from the West Centre SNT, said: “This was a successful result for the team. Drug dealing will not be tolerated in the community and our work to identify and take action against this will continue. People can be reassured that information passed on to the police will be acted on.”

Anyone concerned about illegal drug activity can contact the West Centre SNT on 0845 456 4567.
