A community group who want to transform an area of woodland on Earlham Road have submitted a bid for £50,000 of lottery funding.
Last year residents in area were canvassed on how the woodland next to the Black Horse Pub could be enhanced. Among the ideas for The Dell were an amphitheatre to stage outdoor performances. Since then, work has been going on behind the scenes filling out an application to Community Spaces. They help community groups create or improve green, open spaces and are funded by the Big Lottery Fund.
The bid for £50,000 was submitted last week. The community group behind the bid is led by Warren Bryant who runs The Workshop on Earlham Road. He says they’ll learn within 10-12 weeks whether they qualify for funding. He has many of the people, such as local tree surgeons and metal workers lined up, if they are successful.
Norwich City Council has already pledged £11,000 towards the project to enhance The Dell.
