Eaton bus lane extended

Eight weeks work to extend the city-bound bus lane on Newmarket Road is nearing completion. The nearside lane of Eaton by-pass started operating as a bus lane this week.The aim is to stop buses being held up in tailbacks during rush hour. The project is part of a wider scheme to develop faster, more efficient public transport in Norwich. The road will become a Bus Rapid Transit route, offering buses every ten minutes from Thickthorn Park and Ride. A speed limit of 30 mph will come into force on Newmarket Road. Work on the island at the junction of Unthank Road has been extended and is due to finish next week.
