A special auction has opened offering a host of prizes, including VIP tickets to see QI or to watch Norwich City play Liverpool from an executive box.
Bidding has already opened ahead of tomorrow night’s event, in aid of City College’s New Opportunities Fund. This discretionary fund was set up to provide financial support to students experiencing hardship. According to the college, the need for the fund has never been greater, at a time when the Educational Maintenance Grant has been withdrawn and many families are affected by unemployment or rising living costs.
Around 100 diners will attend the event at the college’s Debut Restaurant. There’s a chance to win tickets to meet former City College student, Stephen Fry or to take part in a 20-minute aerobatic flight in a biplane. Principal Dick Palmer said: “The generosity of those who have donated items to be auctioned, and those who are now bidding on them, will make a real difference to students in some of the most challenging of circumstances.”
The auction is open to anyone to bid on in advance of the fundraising dinner, via the College’s web site. Bids will be accepted up until midday on Friday. Take a look at the full list of lots.
