Forty gardens in the Golden Triangle are being opened up to the public for the first time this weekend, in aid of Norwich Age UK.
All are within walking distance of each other, dotted along roads such as Town Close, Park Lane, Mount Pleasant and West Parade.
The gardens range from allotments to the Plantation Gardens on Earlham Road. To take part, each person buys a brochure for £5, which is valid for the whole weekend. Brochures are on sale at Notcutts Garden Centre in advance of the event and at Arnolds at Eaton Waitrose, St Peter’s Church on Park Lane and at the Plantation Gardens on the weekend of 25th/26th June.
Organiser, Christine Ferris, was inspired by a similar event held in Thorpe last year: “For keen gardeners, it’s been a really good excuse to spend hours in the garden rather than doing the housework. Lots of the people opening up their gardens have been working like mad to get them ready in time.”
All proceeds over the 2 days go towards developing services for older people, as part of Celebrate Age, a Campaign for Later Life in Norfolk.
