Some of the UK’s most skillful skateboarders are heading to south Norwich this weekend. There’s a chance to see the best BMX riders too. Here’s a taste of what you’ll be able to see at Eaton Park.
It’s the official opening of Eaton Park’s new skatepark this weekend with a chance to see the professionals in action. Saturday is being billed as the Skateboard Day. From midday, UK pros from various different teams will put the new skatepark through its paces.
Sunday will be the turn of BMX riders from across the UK. The video features Scott Ditchburn, one of the riders who will be giving demonstrations at this weekend’s event. Competitions will be held on both days. The skatepark opened to the public in June, after ten years of campaigning by local groups and has already attracts hundreds of users every week. All of this weekend’s events are free and run til 5 pm.
Steve Morphew, leader of Norwich City Council, said: “This is the time we have been looking forward to for a very long time – the culmination of all the hard work by council officers and by the skatepark consultation group.”
