The headteacher of Eaton Primary School has stepped down. Diana Ellis joined the school prior to the merger of Fairway First and Middle Schools. Letters are being sent home to parents this week, informing them the Governing Body will be looking for a new head to start in September.
Earlier this month, the head of Avenue Junior School announced his resignation, just a year after taking up the post. Both resignations come at a time of an acute headteacher shortage in Norfolk. The National Union of Teachers is very concerned by the current situation. As we reported last week, the Local Education Authority says the situation has not reached crisis point.
Schools received their budgets over halfterm, with a caution to expect a further drop of 5% in 2012/13. Paul Fisher, Assistant Director for Resources and Efficiency at County Hall warns:” The financial future is uncertain. The local authority recognises that the next few years will be a period of financial challenge and are in the process of engaging with partners during the next couple of months to identify how enhanced support can be provided to all schools to help minimise the impact of this period of financial constraint. “
