As interviews for the new head at Eaton Primary take place, the police issue a statement regarding an allegation against the current head.
Norfolk police have confirmed that they will not be pursuing the matter, after an allegation was made against the headteacher of Eaton Primary School.
Diane Neville-Jones was suspended last Friday but in a statement the police said: ”This matter was referred to police under agreed procedures. Initial enquiries have been carried out and no criminal offences have been committed. No further police action will be taken in relation to this matter.”
It is standard practice for the police to be informed of certain allegations made against teachers. Kendra Deacon, from the Norfolk branch of the National Union of Teachers (NUT) says Governing Bordies will sometime suspend a teacher, to remove them from a volatile situation: “A suspension can be put in place for the protection of all parties involved, while a fair investigation takes place.”
Diane Neville-Jones is due to step down as head of Eaton Primary in a few weeks time, after handing in her resignation earlier this year. A spokesperson for Norfolk County Council said they were unable to comment further, as an investigation by the Governing Body is ongoing. Interviews for the new headteacher at Eaton primary are taking place today.
