The N&N’s adopting a new strategy to emergency admissions. It wants to ensure only those who need urgent care are treated at A&E. This follows a pilot scheme trialled in King’s Lynn. The quick thinking of a specialist cardiac nurse helped save the life of a fellow football fan at Saturday’s game. Simon Bowles, who lives on the Avenues, stepped in when he saw a man nearby having a heart attack. Up to 70% of A&E patients could be treated elsewhere within the NHS, according to a report to councillors this week. At the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital they’re working on a strategy to get this message across, as they face unprecedented demand. Thousands of staff at the N&N University hospital have been thanked by bosses for their efforts to get into work today, despite the snow. Many left for work early, while others left their cars at home and walked.
