A brand new hockey pitch, built in the grounds of the Hewett School, officially opened today.

The Norwich Dragons Hockey Club were made homeless three years ago, forcing them to train outside the city.

The £600,000 project to build a  hockey pitch in Norwich began when Aviva closed their facility at Pinebanks in Thorpe. A partnership was set up between Town Close School, The Norwich Dragons Hockey Club and The Hewett School to secure the site and the funding.

The Norwich Dragons Club have a large dedicated team of qualified coaches focused on developing players at the club as well as the community. Their Schools Coaching Team also provide a voluntary programme of coaching for local schools. Their Young Dragons section consists of under 8s, under 10s and under 12s as well as Development Teams (12-15 years) for both boys and girls.

Anyone who fancies trying out the new pitch should contact the membership secretary, Hannah at hanny67@gmail.com or log on to their website.
