A local company have launched a software programme aimed at independent filmmakers.

Ten years ago, FXHome founders Joshua Davies and Toby Walsh wanted to find a way to add sound effects to film – specifically lightsaber sounds. From this, their company grew and they’ve now launched a product which allows independent filmmakers to edit their films and add special effects at the same time.

Founded by two UEA graduates, FXhome now have a staff of 20. Over 600,000 people have viewed this trailer for an online film, which was shot using their new software. Simon Jones from the company said: “I think we’ll see these kind of filmmakers shifting into the mainstream. The get more viewers than many tv shows.”

The software is designed to add effects such as gunfire, explosions or, as is the case for this film, teleporting.
