The latest Ofsted report into The Hewett School has been published.

The Hewett School has been ranked as satisfactory, with some good aspects. Ofsted grade schools on a scale of 1-4, where 1 is outstanding, 2 is good, 3 is satisfactory and 4 is in adequate.

In a letter to the Cecil Road school, the inspectors said: “The school has a number of strengths, for example the curriculum and the support you receive, but at the same time there are some areas that it could improve.” To make improvements, the inspectors suggest: “…sharing the best teaching practice more effectively and looking more closely at the learning taking place in class. We have also asked that the school and governors are more precise about setting targets, and that they improve how they measure the school’s improvement towards them.” The full report has been published on the Ofsted website today.

In a statement, the school’s headteacher, Tom Samain, said: “We are very pleased that this report has highlighted our considerable strengths.  The quality of care, guidance and support is rated as good as is the school’s curriculum and nine other aspects of the school.”

Last week, we reported on Ofsted’s report on City of Norwich School, which also gave an overall rating of satisfactory, with some good aspects.
