A south Norwich landlord has been chosen to become Sheriff of Norwich.
Norwich is one of only 15 towns and cities to appoint a Sheriff.
The role of Sheriff is apolitical, honorary and lasts for a year. Members of the majority political group on City Council decided last night who to appoint.
Chris Higgins, who runs the Trafford Arms on Grove Road said: “It’s fantastic – I’m really, really, really proud. I’ve been a Norwich resident since 1984 and this is the highlight of my time in Norwich.”
The new Lord Mayor has also been announced – Councillor Jenny Lay, who represents Crome ward for Labour. The Mayor Making ceremony will take place on Tuesday 17th May.
