Over 30 local pubs will soon take part in a brand new ten-day event.

200 beers are being brewed in preparation.

All the pubs taking part in Norwich City of Ale 2011 will be hosting events, ranging from a Bank Holiday Barbecue at the Fat Cat to a Hog Roast, accompanied by the Norwich Ukelele Society at the York Tavern. Interest in Norwich is growing nationally since the city gained promotion to the Premier League, with some breweries offering special celebratory beers as a result.

Six trails have be drawn up, including three in south Norwich. Those who want to enter a prize draw can try to visit all 31 pubs within the ten days, gaining a stamp from each as proof. Dawn Leeder, co-chair of the City of Ale group said: “It’s about getting people to sample beers they haven’t tried before and to make people aware of the range of beers produced on their doorstep.”

A Brewer’s Market will also be held outside the Forum on Saturday 30th May, allowing local breweries to show off the best they have to offer.

Golden Triangle Trail: Beehive, Unthank Arms, The York, Rose Tavern and Eaton Cottage.

The West End Trail: The King’s Head, White Lion, Plough, The Reindeer and The Fat Cat

The Victoria Trail: The Rose Inn, The Trafford Arms, Murderers, Castlegates, The Champion and The Kings Arms.

A programme with full details of Norwich City of Ale goes on sale across the city on 19th May 2011.

Events, beers and pub details can be found on the City of Ale website.
