Man arrested for criminal damage

A man’s been charged, following an incident which saw 21 rubbish trucks vandalised.

Police have confirmed they attended an incident at the Mile Cross Road depot yesterday, involving damage to a number of refuse vehicles. Biffa hold the contract to deal with all of the city’s waste collections.

Philip Powley, aged 46 and from Devonshire Street, has been charged with criminal damage to property and will appear at Norwich Magistrates Court on Friday 3 June 2011.

Staff worked through the night to repair the damage, to allow collections to go ahead today.
