More 50 ft phone masts planned

Local councillors are again encouraging people to object to 50ft phone masts in the community.

As reported before, two mobile phone companies want to improve network coverage in the area by installing more masts.

The proposed masts are on two sites: one on Colman Road near Earlham Library and one near Earlham West Centre.

Labour ward councillors have successfully campaigned against previous applications: this year they stopped what they dub “monster masts” outside the Shoemakers pub, at Earlham Five Ways and next to the new police station on Earlham Road.

Bert Bremner (University, Labour) said: ”Putting in a very large mast and large cupboards into this area, on the verge proposed, would be a massive visual intrusion. The planned mast and the large cupboards are ugly; they do not fit in, and should be rejected.”
