New Tesco store to open
Tesco are opening another store in south Norwich next week.
The store has been inundated with job applications ahead of the opening.
Over 50 people applied for each of the 7 posts at the new Tesco Express on the corner of Old Palace and Dereham Road.
The supermarket interviewed 33 of the 400 people who applied. Store manager, Richard Lawrence said: “I was thrilled by the huge response we received to our recruitment drive.”
The store will be open from 6am until 11pm, seven days a week, from Friday 4th November 2011.
Work to build a fast, 24 hour bus lane into the city got underway last week. But a decision has yet to be taken on the junction of Old Palace Road and Dereham Road, as plans to ban right turns have proved unpopular with the community. Ward councillors have been told local people will be consulted on different options for the junction, before work goes ahead.
