Police step up late night patrols

Police are increasing their patrols after a spate of burglaries around College Road. They’re advising residents to think about security, and what to do if they are targetted.

The recent thefts have targeted high value bikes, often taken from inside high fenced, locked and gated gardens with secure sheds.  Inspector Nigel Richards said: “We are working hard in the area to combat this spate of crimes.  It must be said that the high rear walls, fences and overgrown foliage make it easy for potential thieves to pass along without being seen.  Also, previously installed alley gates are being left open.”

If you find your shed or building broken into, the advice is to leave everything in place to aid forensics. If you think the offenders are still on your property or in the immediate vicinity call 999. The West Centre Safer Neighbourhood Team is offering free crime prevention surveys, on 0845 456 4567
