The Scottish take on the Irish in a cycle speedway event in Harford Park this Saturday.

It’s ahead of the National Championships, which will be held in south Norwich later this year.

Organisers are expecting competitors from across the country to take part in this weekend’s Celtic Cup competition. Each race between the Irish and the Scottish lasts under a minute, with 18 heats for the main competition. Wales currently lead the competition.

The event comes ahead of cycle speedway’s biggest event, the British National Championships, which will be staged in Eaton Park this August Bank Holiday weekend. Since 2003, Norwich Cycle Speedway Club have worked with the City Council on making improvements, successfully bidding for grants to bring the park’s track up to a national standard. The local club have members aged 6 to over 60.

“The Celtic Cup” Ireland vs Scotland starts from 2pm at Harford Park, just off Ipswich Road.
