A number of buyers have come forward to snap up the former fire station on Bethel Street.

Interested parties have until the end of the month to bid for the prime city spot.

The three-storey building has planning permission to be turned into a mixture of residential, retail and office use. Bids initially opened in early December 2011 but a January deadline has now been extended.

The fire station on Bethel Street finally closed after 80 years of service in August last year. One crew moved from there to a brand new Carrow fire station on Martineau Lane, Trowse.

A spokesperson for NPS Property Services, who are handling the sale of the former fire station for Norfolk County Council said: “A second round of bidding closes on Feb 29th. This second round was held in order to ensure all interested parties were offered a fair and equal opportunity to bid. We look forward to a successful resolution of this sale.”
