Second bookies robbed at knifepoint

Detectives are linking a robbery of a bookmakers on Old Palace Road to a similar one on Hall Road last week.

Just after 4pm yesterday a man entered William Hill on Old Palace Road and threatened staff with a knife while demanding money. The man got away with a quantity of cash and fled the scene running towards a nearby block of flats. No one was injured during the incident.

The suspect is described as white, about 5ft 11, aged in his late 20s or early 30s, with short cropped hair. He was wearing a brown and white horizontal striped hooded top and jeans.

Officers are linking this to a similar robbery which happened at Betfred bookmakers on Hall Road on Wednesday 19th October 2011. Police investigating this incident have named a 29 year old man, Mark Barton, they want to speak to.
