Local production company, Eventdog, based on College Road are staging a three hour live show this Sunday, which’ll be streamed live on the internet. The performance at the EPIC tv studios on Magdalen Street will showcase 5 local bands, fashion and alternative acts. It incorporates a live make-up competition, which the audience and internet viewers will be able to vote on, via text.

This show is the first of many planned by the company, who want to develop a monthly music show along the lines of  Top of the Pops, which could be filmed here in Norwich, again screened online. Eventdog director, Angie Phillips said: “The whole ethos of Eventdog is to celebrate and support local talent. Hopefully this show will give the artists involved a springboard to go on to bigger and better things.”

Among the live acts are former Next Big Thing winner Ed Sheeran, The Lost Levels and singer songwriter Ria Ritchie. It’ll be presented by two UEA drama students. Epic TV director Mark Wells said: “I believe that this sort of event could well be the future of broadcasting. Not only is it encompassing exciting new technologies but it is also delivering local content which is key to our success.”

A tv pilot will be made out of the live tv show. The organisers believe it’s the first time that make-up artists have been given a platform like this to show what they can do. Many of the artists are training at City College Norwich. Angie Phillips said: ” It’s been a ridiculous amount of hard work. I’ve been working on the project for three months solid. It’s about opening doors for people, whether it’s set design, make-up, hair or presenting and giving them a place to showcase their talent here in Norwich.” The show can be watched live from 7pm on Sunday 2nd May.
