Thieves have targeted parked vehicles in the past week around St Stephens and Grove Road.

Police warn that it only takes opportunists a few seconds to spoil your Christmas.

Officers have reported six incidents in the space of four nights, where thieves made off with stereos, sat navs, wallets and audio equipment.

Sgt Jo Minnis, from the local Safer Neighbourhood Team, said said: “Nobody wants to be a victim of crime, especially at this time of the year. It only takes opportunists thieves a few seconds to peer into a vehicle and be tempted to steal if items are left on display, even a coat or jacket could attract them. The message also applies to shoppers leaving Christmas presents on display. Again, keep them out of sight or take with you if you are leaving your vehicle unattended.”
