The party coincides with celebrations for the Millennium Library too, which is also 10 years old. The library has been named the UK’s most popular for the sixth year running.
The figures for the Millennium Library show the library has had more visits and issued more items for loan, than any other library in the country. It had 1,496,186 visitors between April 2010 and March 2011.
Jennifer Holland, Assistant Director of Community Services and Head of Libraries and Information at Norfolk County Council, said: “This is pleasing news for both the whole of the County Council’s library service and the Millennium Library and comes just a day before we celebrate the Millennium Library’s tenth birthday. It is testament to the hard work of all our staff that we continue to produce a service that so many people enjoy using.”
