An Eaton church has completed an ambitious project to update its building, despite having thousands of pounds worth of lead stolen during the build.

Thieves took newly laid lead from the roof of Christ Church in Eaton while repair work was being carried out. Despite this setback, the church has now completed its project, which includes better insulation, drainage and heating, costing £80,000.

Rev Dr Patrick Richmond, vicar at the church said: “Generally, the works let in more light, keep in more heat and keep out more water. We’re delighted to have completed these repairs and improvements and now face the winter cold, dark and rain with warmth, light and hope.” The church plans to continue fundraising to maintain the building in the future.
