A popular cafe/deli/ restaurant on Unthank Road has closed. But other parties have already expressed an interest in taking over 103.
A sign on the door to 103 thanks customers for their support since opening 3 years ago. Neighbouring businesses on Unthank Road expressed surprise at the cafe’s closure, commenting that they always seemed to have a steady stream of customers, bringing a “buzz” to the street. The venue was recommended in this year’s Michelin Guide.
But according to Chris Williams from McTear, Williams and Wood, a business rescue and insolvency firm who’ve been brought in, 103 had to close down because they were making losses: “Although the business was really successful, the company will probably go into liquidation in about a week’s time. We’re currently looking at ways to re-open it.”
He added a number of interested parties had already be in touch: “There may well be scope for something to rise out of the ashes.”
Anyone who is interested in opening a restaurant or investing in the premises should contact Sarah Townshend at McTear, Williams and Wood on 01603 877540.
it went under because the owners had no idea how to run it . everyday they would have 5 chefs working the kitchen , even if they weren’t busy. the would use stock from their shop in the menu , but not account for it . just take a look at some of the old reviews on tripadvisor .

How on earth did this place go under ?
With the average meal for 2 with vino costing roughly 70-100 pounds, and the place was rammed every night you attempted to get a table god knows how this place had to close its doors.
