Ward councillors in part of south Norwich have successfully lobbied to get drains cleared, after streets were hit by flooding. If you’re worried about your street, there’s still time to report problem areas.
Recent bouts of heavy rain led to flooding in parts of Nelson ward, such as Park Lane, which saw a local Pre-School flooded in August. Homes and gardens in the Stafford Street and Denbigh Road areas were also hit by flash flooding.
Responding to complaints from local people, ward councillors have been lobbying the council to clear the drains this autumn. If your street is prone to flooding, councillors are asking for you to get in touch so they can include those streets in the council’s drain clearing programme. Councillor Adrian Ramsay (Nelson, Green) said: “We’ve had concerns raised from residents in the Stafford Street, Gladstone and St Phillips Road area, roads around Denbigh Road and also Neville St and College Road.”
