Norwich’s newest restaurant: “We were expecting a busy week but nothing like this.”
Norwich’s Japanese YO! Sushi restaurant had the best opening week any restaurant in the chain has ever had, attracting twice as many customers than expected.
It took YO! Sushi managers two years to secure the location they wanted, helping make the area near the Chapelfield Big Screen into an unofficial food court. Manager Matt Gunns said : “If you come here now, you’ve got choice. You can go next door for Italian, go across to Wagamama’s…” The menu is made up of noodles, rice dishes, soups, salads, tempura and other hot Japanese food: “In London, people often dash in and out… here we don’t want customers here to feel rushed.”
Around 300 people applied for the 30 posts at the restaurant.
