Film company scouts locations in south Norwich

A local film company is looking for locations for their latest production. Their last film, shot in Norwich last summer, could be shown in cinemas later this year.

Earlham police station to be flattened

Earlham Police station could be bulldozed this summer, to make way for a brand new building. The new two storey deployment base on the corner of Earlham and Colman Road, would house both the police and an ambulance sub-station. Local people have won thousands of pounds to transform an area of wooded land next to the Black Horse Pub on Earlham Road. Among the ideas – turning the dell into a performance arena.

Dragon’s Hall used to use the woodland for medieval re-enactments. With it’s naturally steep sides, the project organisers are considering turning it into an amphitheatre with seating along the banks. Read More…

More snow forecast for weekend

A severe weather warning has been issued by the Met Office for the East of England, forecasting heavy snow before midnight tonight. Drivers are being warned of icy conditions on untreated roads. Holiday-makers have been hit. Dr Nick Steel, who lives off Earlham Road, has been left stranded in Switzerland, after high winds shut Luton airport earlier today. His re-scheduled flight has also been cancelled. Speaking from Geneva, he said: “It’s chaos.. there are huge queues at the desks, no-one’s sure what’s happening, but at least Easyjet put us up in a hotel.”
