The headteacher of Avenue Junior School is to leave at Easter. Mark Cresswell, who took on the post just one year ago, will become head of a Suffolk middle school. The news comes as a surprise to parents, who received a letter from the school’s Chair of Governors today. The deputy head, Debbie Dismore will become acting head, while the search for a permanent replacement begins. Mark Cresswell took over the headship from Juri Zarins in January 2009, under whose long-standing leadership the school attained a good Ofsted report in September 2008. Pupils were told the news in an assembly this afternoon.
