In the early 1900s, Jeremiah Colman bought a 3,500 year old mummy shroud, along with over 200 other Egyptian artifacts. The shroud is now part of the Castle Museum collection, alongside a mummy gifted by George V.
The stories behind the collection will be explored in a series of talks at the RC cathedral throughout October.

Two public meetings are being held next week, giving people in south Norwich a chance to have their say on plans to combine two local Catholic schools.
Traffic congestion is one of the issues that’s been raised, if the merger goes ahead.
The Prime Minister toured Norwich’s Free School this morning, citing it as a model: “We want to provide what parents want: a very good education, slightly smaller class sizes and wrap-around care.”
Costing 1/6th of a normal new primary school, he added it was good value for money and would “drive up standards for children in this school and in schools across Norwich.”
